His most recent book, Daybreak at Chavez Ravine: Fernandomania and the Remaking of the Los Angeles Dodgers  (Univ. of Nebraska Press, 2023) relives and sheds new light on Dodger great Fernando Valenzuela's path from rural Mexico to Major League superstardom in the 1980s. Sherman discusses his book and Valenzuela's legacy in this episode.
